PRICE ON APPLICATION

All paintings are acrylic and oil on stretched canvas. This series represents water in various forms. I started with one colour in the base- often orange and built up layers, often over many years. The layers represent what is hidden beneath the surface, usually very thick, multilayered paint, placed on the surface on good days and bad, reflecting different moods.

Sometimes flotsam floats across the top of the water, and joins reflections to create an additional barrier to seeing what is really happening below. If there is a meaning, it is that life and people are not easy to ‘read’ and understand quickly. What you see on the surface is often far more interesting and complicated than what you see initially. It’s important to take the time to look deeper.
